On January 31, the “eaward 2019” was held in Vienna. SENS was honoured in the category “Smart City & Infrastructure” for the project “Smart Water – prevention of loss of water using LoRaWANTM“. During the ceremony in the T-Center in Vienna, particularly economic, customer-friendly and innovative IT-projects from Austria were awarded. A total of 46 projects in seven categories were nominated.

Water meters have become smart products. The water meters can communicate consumption and other incidents, such as a leaking pipe, several times a day as needed using LoRaWANTM . In cooperation with G. Bernhardt’s Söhne GmbH, a proof of concept is taking place with more than 100 smart water meters connected via LoRaWANTM in the ecoplus Park Wiener Neudorf. The jury decided to honour our project because it addresses the huge challenge of water loss, is a showcase for LoRaWANTM technology and shows how IoT works.We would like to thank the Report Verlag and the jury of the eawards for the recognition of our project and our partners G.Bernhardt’s sons and ecoplus. The eaward is one of the largest IT business awards in Austria. Since 2005, it takes place annually. More than 1,300 projects have been nominated and 400 of them have been awarded. The focus is on topics and projects that show the technological change of our society, the economy and the administration.
